Horrible Review: Sianji Well-being Resort, Bodrum – A Masterclass in Deception and Overcharging
I have stayed in many five-star resorts, but my experience at the Sianji Well-being Resort in Bodrum was so profoundly disappointing and financially predatory that it deserves a special category of awful.
My primary grievance is a blatant case of bait-and-switch overcharging at breakfast. I was aware my room rate might not include breakfast and was perfectly prepared to pay the advertised rate of R128 per person for a continental buffet, as stated on their hotel app. However, what transpired was nothing short of a scam.
Upon entering the dining hall, our room number was checked against a printed list, leading us to logically assume breakfast was included. We were seated and served. As vegetarians, our requests were simple: two toasted cheese, tomato, and onion sandwiches, three glasses of pineapple juice, and we inquired about pastries. They offered ice cream and chocolate mousse instead.
After eating, we were stopped and presented with a bill for a staggering 2,950 Turkish Lira (approximately R1150.00). This was not the continental breakfast rate. They had itemized every single component at outrageous, à la carte prices—charging us exorbitantly for two simple sandwiches, three juices, and the desserts they themselves offered. This amounted to nearly FOUR TIMES the advertised per-person continental rate.
