Our stay at Tryp San Juan was disappointing from start to finish. We were made to wait nearly the entire day for our room, being told it wasn’t ready because housekeeping hadn’t cleared it yet. When we finally got inside, the room smelled unpleasant and there was a used washcloth left under the sink — not exactly the sign of a freshly cleaned space.
There was no hot water, and the TV didn’t work until maintenance came up to fix it. The elevator was painfully slow and often taken up by cleaning carts, which made getting to and from the room frustrating. The restaurant breakfast buffet was another letdown — it was consistently out of food and what was available was sparse, especially for the price they charge.
For the cost and reputation, I expected a much smoother and cleaner experience. Unfortunately, this stay fell well short of that.
