I want to make it very clear why I made the decision to leave the hotel.
My decision is based on one simple but fundamental reason: I was lied to, and in my book, that is unforgivable. The truth —no matter how uncomfortable— will always be better than a lie of this magnitude.
During my stay, the hotel’s air conditioning system was not working and, as I later found out, it had already been out of service for several days before my arrival. In the past, I’ve received communications from the team notifying me of situations such as construction work or noise. The lie became obvious in two moments:
The person who brought the portable AC told me the air had been out for several days.
A neighbor on the same floor confirmed exactly the same thing shortly afterward.
