I was surprised by the high ratings for this property. As a solo female traveler, I did not feel comfortable in the surrounding area, particularly after dark. The street is poorly lit, and because it is pedestrian-only, rideshares cannot drop off directly at the entrance, which made arriving at night feel challenging. I also often saw people loitering and using substances right outside the building, which added to the sense of insecurity.
Inside, I encountered several issues: belongings went missing in the rooms, the bathrooms were not clean, and the courtyard flooded during rain. I also had an interaction with staff that felt unprofessional, and when I mentioned that I felt unsafe, the response was dismissive.
In the end, I decided to move to a different hostel, which worked out better. The one positive was that Skye did a great job organizing social activities. Overall, however, I would not recommend this property for solo female travelers.
