Staff are very friendly and helpful, hotel is modern and clean. Our room had clearly had repairs done but these were not finished, large sections of wall damaged and filled in but not redecorated, there was also mould on the bathroom ceiling. The room is also very dark, due to lack of ceiling lights, not a problem in summer when light would stream through the nice big window. But in December, trying to get a family of 4 dressed and ready early in the morning in the dark was not ideal.

The front of house staff in the restaurant went above and beyond to be helpful, attentive and friendly at both breakfast and evening time. We were travelling with two excited children at Christmas time and they were both very chatty and accomodating which made the meal times easy!

We visited the hotel during December and it was geared up for Christmas parties. We arrived late and on arrival we had to battle with our suitcases through crowds of drunk people smoking at the entrance. There was nowhere quiet to eat as we wanted food as the main bar area was overtaken by party goers. The self check in was easy, but a member of staff rushed over and took over. She then asked me to scan a QR and leave her a review (even taking my phone to press the 5 stars and enter her name)…we had only just arrived and weren’t ready to leave a review. Assistance when in the room is all via a web chat which the team were slow to respond to and I was told I couldn’t eat due to my dietary requirements as they were too busy cooking food for the Christmas parties. Then at 10pm someone started to vacuum the hallway outside the room. I went to bed hungry and frustrated. Breakfast was better and someone far more friendly helped us check out. I wouldn’t recommend visiting in December again if not part of the Christmas parties.

Room was great, comfortable bed. TV was okay, wifi I had to log back into as it logged me out. Car Park was busy and cost £5, which I think was not great as the room cost was over £100 for one night. Venue did not have decaf tea bags.

Room was very clean and basic. Was surprised at how basic it was in comparison to other village hotels. Sheets didn’t fit the bed properly so mattress was exposed at the top when you moved the pillows. Lovely food in the restaurant. Staff were friendly.

Two night stay, Saturday and Sunday night. On the Saturday the place was horrendously business and it was as if we had stepped into a nightclub with the noise from the bar! They have self check in which is a bit of a nightmare but luckily a person became available to help. The place is very well presented and maintained and our room which was on the first floor was small yet comfortable. The bathroom had a great shower but poor extraction, so by the end of a shower the walls were dripping with condensation and there wasn't a dry spot in the bathroom! The rooms are not soundproof and you hear everything. We were disturbed many times during the night with people walking down the corridor talking and slamming doors. Thankfully on the Sunday night it was quieter but we were then awoken early by loud music from below. It then turned out that we were above a studio room in the gym where they were holding exercise classes. No lie in for us! All in all, very mixed opinions about this place but will probably never use a Village Hotel again
