Poor communication and stressful checkout experience
The room itself was okay, but there was no real view—only a street view. The toilet was clogged and did not function properly during the stay.
The standard checkout time is 11:00 AM, but I was never informed of a $50 late checkout fee at check-in or during housekeeping visits at 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, when I stated I would be checking out late. At 1:50 PM, security was sent to my room without prior notice and told me to leave. I immediately complied and exited by 2:07 PM. Both my daughter and I were sick, which the front desk had been informed of.
Communication issues added to the problem: the room phone did not work properly, the hotel text system was unresponsive, and cellular service was unreliable, requiring reliance on hotel Wi-Fi. At checkout, staff loudly stated in the lobby that security had been sent to remove me, which was embarrassing and unnecessary.
Overall, the lack of clear communication and empathy made this a very stressful stay. Future guests should confirm all policies in writing.
