Avoid this hotel.
Checked in and immediately discovered the room was saturated with a strong mold and mildew smell. Not subtle. Not questionable. Overpowering the moment the door opened. It was clearly not a room fit for occupancy.
We went straight back to the front desk. The staff required us to bring all luggage back downstairs and fully vacate the room before discussing options. We complied.
A staff member then gave us two options: move to another room or receive a full refund. We chose the refund. That option was explicitly offered and accepted.
Later, the hotel refused to authorize the refund.
Hotels.com denied the refund because the hotel would not approve it. When calling the property again, another employee confirmed the refund was rejected because the manager was not present at the time and that we would need to call back during weekday hours. In other words, they reversed their position after the fact.
This was a health issue, not a preference. Mold is unacceptable. The handling of this situation was misleading and unprofessional.
Poor maintenance, evasive management, and zero accountability. The Hilton brand should be embarrassed to have its name on this property.
