The food was almost inedible. Worst food we’ve experienced at a resort. 2 separate meals I ate crackers. Seemed like a lot of recycled food. Wait staff didn’t seem to care much. We booked premium but there wasn’t much premium about it. Poor liquor and especially wine selection. The premium lounge wasn’t much to be desired either. Positives: The room was great. Great shower and nice big towels. Adult pool was great. Nice temperature. The only odd part is the swim up bar is in the family pool. Management was very friendly. Talked to a few managers and ops manager about the issues. They gave us a nicer bottle of wine at 2 dinners. From some of the people I met, that were yearly returning guests, said that this would be their last year staying there as it really declined from what it was. It turned us off the Barceló brand.

Really a 3-star property on a good day. Rooms are dated, food is dreadful, front desk staff incredibly rude. About an hour drive from the airport so Makes day tripping into town challenging. Nice pool areas.

The resort needs upgrade of food quality. Also need to get with the times and be able to reserve restaurant on app like all other resorts. Unless you book prime it sucks!! Would not return.

Room was wonderful & just like the photos. The spa and VIP room were fantastic. Service was ok - staff around pools was rare, room service was hit or miss (said 24/7 but wasn’t), housekeeping kept only bringing decaf coffee, waiters were ok. The food was very blah except Don Quixote, which was really good. ATMs were all busted in hotel and Mismaloya so get cash at the airport. Every where you went outside the hotel or on the beach you were constantly harassed by excursion and jewelry sales people. The bay is full of excursion boats and the water smells like gasoline.

This is a beautiful resort. We’ve been coming off & on for 40 years. Lots of changes, not all for the best. Most of the staff barely spoke English. When we checked out they didn’t even ask how our stay was, guess they don’t care. The biggest disappoint- they took down the American flag. We won’t be going back!

The main dining area "Le Fuente" was excellent service. although the selection was massive he food was average at best. Most was bland and overcooked. Los Arcos snack area was a complete disappointment. The service staff was non attentive, the kitchen was a disaster. The food was terrible...7/11 quality and 1 went 3x...every time the food was wrong from missing chicken, bacon, mayo, etc...they cooks just don't care at all. A La Carte is the 3rd option. its beyond laughable. Cut up unheated hotdogs and plain hamburgers? Then there is the bars....you are keeping your draft selections out in the heat without any refrigeration? How this place is 4-5 star is beyond me. I have traveled a lot and this was a disappointment. The resort is beautiful and obviously they know how to train staff because the service in the main buffet was exceptional. But every where else was abysmal.this is an obvious failure of ownership and management.

The fountains weren’t working for most of our trip. Just disappointing. I kept complaining and was told tomorrow. Ha. It was actually comical. The food was average and seemed there was always room at the specialty restaurants. The drinks were good but the swim up bar was overcrowded a lot. House keeping was good and they kept up on the minibar. The room was excellent, big and the a/c worked flawlessly. Watch out for the sand fleas as they kicked out butts. lol.

Staff were absolutely amazing, can't say enough about the employees at the resort. The resort itself was small so there were naturally limited options for swimming/beach walking/food/bars/entertainment/etc/etc. While I had a good time, I likely would pick somewhere else to stay next time

It was nice. I like that this time we were not pressured to buy time shares. In general terms, workers were friendly and the environment was family friendly. Some recommendations I would give: * it could be cleaner. Changing the bedding more often and putting more attention to details would give a better impression. * the shows in the theater were good, but I would recommend to include a nice show on Fridays. * I feel that the reservations for restaurants were really limited. We were not able to try some restaurants we really wanted to see. * I feel that the available personnel serving was limited for the amount of customers. More servers would increase the customer satisfaction.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta was such a magical, healing experience that I've just booked another visit in January! The food is abundant and incredible, the rooms were SO spacious and comfortable, and I felt completely safe as you can't just walk onto the property unless you're a guest or staff. AND they had an amazing Queen tribute band perform a concert in the theatre on site. I stayed by the pool every day, blissfully forgetting all about work and just healing. Gracias; I'll see you again soon!

The property was super clean and the staff worked extremely hard to keep it that way. They even scrub the pool chairs. The room was pretty spacious compared to many resorts I’ve been to. Front desk staff were always very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and how to get around. The baggage concierge staff actively try to help you with directions and information on taxis etc. The entertainers in the evening shows are very talented. Bar staff were always friendly and attentive. Dining staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. Pools were always clean. The beach is scenic but I don’t think I’d swim in it too many boats. However just so happened to be able to baby sea turtles being released. This property is not close to shopping centers but you can take a bus there for less than a dollar. All in all wonderful time. First time at a Barceló resort and I’ll definitely stay at a Barcelo again.
