We booked last minute as we were visiting family chose local instead of premier inn as we like to support local businesses.The room was shabby the mattress was on a base that was too small room cold towels smelt and just not very nice very disappointed.Reception evening rude asked for an xtra pillow told hose keeping gone then received one once we were in bed.Morning reception didn’t show any interest when we checked out no how was your stay or goodbye. Left and said in case you are interested no our stay was not good.Could of got a room somewhere else cheaper but chose to support local a full refund would be appreciated?

Room needed some TLC - large stains on the ceiling, stains on outside of the bath, old cigarette left in drawer where hairdryer was . Basic amenities- no hot choc or biscuits considering it’s 4 star. No info in room at all about what the hotel offers , etc much better in a premier inn for cheaper . Customer service not great on reception either . Not friendly or welcoming . Felt like I was doing them a service! Threat of being charged if I smoked on premises (I’m a non smoker) there are just nicer ways to speak to guests . Won’t stay here again

I'd booked a superior room with double bed and got put into a family room - why? Although a nice big room, it wasn't what id booked. Walls are paper thin. Was up most of the night with the bloke next door coughing. King mattrass was terrible. Could feel every spring in it. Had to use the single bed duvet and spare blanket to make a topper.

The fire alarm light in the bedroom flashed all night and reception said they couldn’t do anything to fix it. The mattress in the room was really old and lumpy. Every time I turned over in bed the springs hurt my leg.

This was our 4th hotel on a little tour around Yorkshire and it was a mid week stay.The only room available on the deal we found was a twin so I emailed forward and asked if it could be changed to a double./ king On arrival the reception said they had moved the beds together.Not ideal as they had so many rooms and so few guests so not sure why they couldn’t do that and it would have been a nice gesture.The second thing I would like to mention was we were told on arrival we were eating in the bar area which wasn’t mentioned when we booked meals.I am divided on this.It was our wedding Anniversary and I had taken evening wear which wasn’t really appropriate for where we were sat so didn’t feel special as I didn’t get to wear them. I think we were the only couple there it was occupied by business people tapping away on their computers.Now I would like to add the food was Amazing.There was an offer of the main menu and another menu of Indian food which I don’t think would have been offered in the restaurant it was outstanding.This made our stay.Overall yes we would stay again the walks around the grounds was another highlight and we saw Heron and rabbits and robins.

Pleased with the hotel and location. Very quiet with plenty of parking. Staff pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious. Only downside was the beds in our room were too hard and we had a poor nights sleep.

The most wonderful staff.

We had a 1 night stay while attending a nearby festival, but wish we'd stayed longer. The most wonderful staff, particularly Mandy on Reception who was super friendly and helpful. 11 out of 10! In addition, the bed had a very comfortable mattress, the rooms had lovely views, the location was great just off the A1. We had a drink on the terrace in the sunshine and enjoyed everything this hotel had to offer. Recommend!

Dilapidated and in need of a revamp. Superior room was miles from reception down narrow corridors. No lifts. Key lock very difficult to use. Would be a nightmare trying to unlock in an emergency. Bedroom very outdated. Minimal coffee/tea sachets and no biscuits. Bed was comfy though. Bathroom not up to scratch with mould evident round tiles. Kitchen facilities out of order so no food except basics. No breakfast due to kitchen faults so only a (very) limited continental breakfast. Both toasters on offer were broken also so not even option of toast. Spa was an extra cost which we weren’t aware of at time of booking. Possibly our fault but we presumed the cost wouldn’t be relevant to resident guests. We had booked for 2 nights but only stayed for one. Very disappointed as this was for my birthday and I booked out in tears
