When we entered the lobby, we were hit with a bad smell. I greeted the woman behind the desk, who ignored me and spoke with a co-worker instead. When she was done, she addressed us and was pleasant enough.
Our room was below average. There was a peanut M&M on the floor, along with other debris, showing that the room hadn't been properly cleaned. Two of the towels in the bathroom had yellow stains. The desk chair had two different colored stains on it.
Despite offering a free breakfast, we opted to go to a restaurant and pay for a meal. With the place being nasty, we weren't about to eat their food. I know a Hampton Inn isn't a five star resort, but I was very disappointed. We usually stay in downtown Greenville, but this was closer to our destination. Next time, we'll make the drive from downtown and one of the nicer hotels.
