I had been looking forward to my first trip to Ohio — a nine-hour drive to attend my best friend’s baby shower. I was excited and carefully chose this hotel because it was in my price range, had good reviews on a third-party site, and the photos looked great.
When we arrived, the maintenance staff and manager upgraded us to what they described as a nicer, quieter business floor room. At first, we were thrilled. However, the excitement quickly turned into disappointment.
The room was dirty: there were cigarette butts on the carpet, the bathroom had urine and hair left behind, and the sheets smelled unclean. We tried to overlook it at first, but things only got worse. The pool was freezing cold, the hot tub smelled foul and looked unsanitary, and the gym was outdated, filthy, and nothing like the photos online.
When I asked the front desk for help, the staff was dismissive and told me there was “nothing they could do” until a manager came in the next day. As a manager myself, I know it’s unacceptable to refuse to contact management when a guest is experiencing serious issues. To make matters worse, we were told to change our own sheets — something no guest should ever have to do.
We were moved to another room, but it was even worse, with visible mold — a serious health concern, especially since my best friend is pregnant. Despite being told repeatedly that a manager would arrive at 5 a.m., then 6 a.m., then 11 a.m., no manager ever appeared. GOOGLE REVIEW
