Staying at The Coach House is an experience you will never duplicate. Hosts Fred and Bert have turned their house into a living museum. Every square inch of walls, floors and tables are covered with art and sculpture (especially of French bulldogs). Fred and Bert make you feel like you are a long lost friend staying at their house. The 3 French bulldogs complete the welcome package.

This place is wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the decor is fantastic. The hosts are lovely. If anything I would suggest the coach house for multiple day stays, or at least for days you can sleep in and enjoy breakfast. It was sad to have to leave early before breakfast for a work engagement.

Wonderful full breakfast at The Coach House - scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, with options for tea/ coffee, cheeses, jams, and various fruits! As the only guest at the time, I sat in the kitchen with hosts and had a lovely conversation. Note: I rarely rate things as excellent - sorry there wasn’t a Very Good rating. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with a really cool, deep bathtub and separate walk-in shower with a handheld showerhead which I always appreciate. Recommendations: If listing does not say so - add that room is upstairs (accessibility). Add another nightlight to the hallway. Reduce the number of nicknacks and collectibles a little bit in the guest bedroom to allow a place to put guests’ items.

Overbooks Room

They/ Hotels.com overbooked us! We had to search the area for another room and of course we were forced into overpaying at the last minute, 25 miles further away. The innkeeper did help us find a room, but I didn’t need the stress.

I was assaulted physically by the proprietor who was angry that I arrived at 10:30 US time when it was 11:30 in Canada. He swore at me. Told me to get the luck out and hurt my arm trying to push me down the stairs. The police were called!

Charming easygoing hosts, Fred and Burt are very knowledgeable of the history of St. Stephen and were happy to share their stories and experiences with us. The breakfast served during our stay was homemade with care, delicious and varied and is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating.

What a beautiful bed and breakfast!! Everything was incredible! The bed and breakfast decor is exquisite, the staff friendly, the gardens amazing! The breakfast was way over the top! The array of delicious foods available and the presentation with beautiful dishes was truly amazing! We would highly recommend staying here.

Inoubliable !!!

Nous avons fait une très belle rencontre avec Fred et Bert qui sont des hôtes charmants, agréables et très intéressants. Leur maison est magnifique remplie d’objets insolites. The property was beautiful and very quiet. The room at the back overlooking the garden was comfortable and had a large adjoining bathroom. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided a delicious breakfast with many choices. I would happily stay there again next time I am in St. Stephen.
