" ​We recently stayed at Gateside Guesthouse and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful, well-manicured gardens. It truly feels like a quiet sanctuary in the heart of Hilton. ​The Highlights: ​The Warm Welcome: A huge thank you to Magda and Mandy(helping with last minute sewing suppliesl! Their hospitality really sets this place apart. They are incredibly attentive, professional, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and well-cared for throughout our stay. ​The Rooms: Our room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and elegantly decorated. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail made it feel like a true home away from home. ​The Setting: Relaxing on the patio overlooking the garden was a highlight. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a quiet sundowner. ​Whether you are visiting for a school event or just need a getaway in the mist-belt, Gateside is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back, thanks in large part to the fantastic service from the team! "

"We had a great stay at Moorcroft for two nights. Couple of tips: 1) Exit at Howick off N3 as the roads are paved, 2) Bring rain gear as it rained quite a bit when we were there, 3) Aim to arrive before sunset as it gets quite dark on the roads, 4) The kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m. and there aren’t too many options nearby. The check-in process was fast and we were shown to our room with a very welcoming ambiance, a large bathroom, and a small outdoor terrace. WiFi was strong. The bathroom could use a bit of modernization by having a larger sink and more shelves. Dinner at the restaurant was great, and we truly enjoyed the curry and spring rolls. However, the steak we had on the first night was overcooked (medium rare became more medium). The service overall was fine, but the trainer definitely needed more training (a teacup was refilled with just hot water - where the tea bag was removed). The surroundings were very peaceful and idyllic. The turn-down service was a nice touch. The spa closes at 5 p.m., which was slightly disappointing since that’s when guests would enjoy the most from returning the day trip. "

"A little dissatisfied. There are fire places in the rooms as well as all public spaces but because it wasn’t yet the 1st of May (even though we were there over the Easter long weekend), we were not allowed to light them. (It was cold). No music / fires / atmosphere in the public spaces makes it cold & uneventful to go there. No walking trails on the property, so if you want to walk you need to drive to another. Your breakfast is complimentary but you must pay to have a cappacino (only filter coffee included- which as a coffee lover - honestly wasn’t very nice coffee at all). The steam room at the spa wasn’t working when we went for our treatments. The staff however are really lovely and doing their best to make it welcoming. If you’re happy to sit in your room all weekend then it is perfect, but for a more active couple, unfortunately it’s not the right fit. "

"Stayed for a night with my girlfriend on the way back from the midlands. The owner Tina was an incredibly sweet and kind lady. With the property being nestled on its own serene little plot of land, I'd highly recommend it to any couple looking to unplug from the world for a little bit."

"Have been using Redlands for over 20 years - even celebrated milestone family events at the hotel. Never again - it is in a very poor state of disrepair with many things broken and staff have an apathetic attitude towards customer service. Dont believe the manager when she says the air conditioners are being fixed - we were told the same thing nearly a year ago and still broken. We chose to give Redlands another chance because of the convenience of its location - rather be inconvenienced and stay elsewhere! A great shame! "
